Shopping in Kona Hawaii

Farmers Markets, Gift Shops & Local Artisans

Shopping, Big Island Style

A charming and eclectic multitude of galleries and shops in the village of Kailua-Kona offer an immense variety of souvenirs, along with a fantastic selection of first-rate local coffee and foods to delight any palate. Housewares and artworks made from local materials (lava rock, minerals, koa, and milo wood) are plentiful.

Upscale resort shops along the Kohala Coast carry high-quality clothing and accessories, as do a few boutiques scattered around the island. Resort shops generally offer the most attractive and original resort-wear, however, their prices run higher than elsewhere on the island.

Historic buildings in Waimea and North Kohala host numerous galleries and gift shops showcasing the work of local artists. Many of the island's former sugar plantation towns have also been transformed into charming art communities where local artists offer their creations for sale directly from their studios.

Here is a partial list of some of the best shopping destinations on the island. Numerous other shopping plazas can be found throughout the island in the local towns of Waimea, Kona, and Hilo.
